TRAVELLING TO AMSTERDAM - Getting There Easy

Fly to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport or take a Train to Amsterdam Central

Amsterdam is well-connected and easily accessible from across Europe and beyond. Here’s a quick rundown of your options:

  • By Air – Schiphol Airport. Then you are just 15–20 minutes to your hotel or to Amsterdam Central Station. Amsterdam Central Station is in the heart of the city.

  • By Train – Eurostar & International RailEurostar connects London to Amsterdam in around 4 hours. High-speed trains from Paris, Brussels, Berlin, and other cities make rail travel smooth and scenic.

  • By Coach – Budget-Friendly Option. International coaches (e.g. FlixBus, BlaBlaCar Bus) offer low-cost travel from cities across Europe.

  • Buses arrive at hubs like Sloterdijk or Amsterdam Amstel Station.

  • By Car – Road Trip Ready. Well-connected via European motorways. Be aware of high parking costs and limited city centre access – Park & Ride (P+R) options are available on the outskirts.

  • By Ferry – From the UK. Ferries run from Newcastle to IJmuiden (near Amsterdam), great for bringing a car or bike. Transfers to the city are available via bus or taxi.

  • Once in Amsterdam, you are no more than 15 minutes from all our activities, especially if you book within proximity of H7 Warehouse.

  • Local taxis are affordable and readily available; most hotels also offer shuttle services upon booking.

GETTING AROUND AMSTERDAM - Public Transport Made Easy

Amsterdam’s public transport system is reliable, clean, and easy to navigate. Here’s a quick guide to help you get moving around the city:

  • Trams – The most iconic and convenient way to travel within central Amsterdam. Frequent and well-connected to major attractions and neighbourhoods.

  • Buses – Ideal for reaching areas not served by trams, especially in outer districts and late at night when other options are limited.

  • Metro – Fast and efficient for longer distances or heading to suburbs like Bijlmer and Amstelveen. Perfect for commuters and exploring beyond the city centre.

  • Trains – Best for travelling to and from Schiphol Airport or visiting nearby cities like Haarlem, Utrecht, or Rotterdam.

  • Ferries – Free services across the IJ River, especially handy for reaching Amsterdam Noord from behind Central Station.

  • OV-chipkaart or Contactless Payment – Use a rechargeable travel card or tap in/out with your contactless debit/credit card or mobile for easy access across all public transport.

  • Use the GVB App or 9292.nl – For real-time journey planning, maps, and route info.
